INFORMATION FOR TRICARE ACTIVE DUTY or NON-ACTIVE DUTY. Scheduling with Dana Hall:

If your insurance is Tricare, in order to see Dana Hall you MUST have referral faxed to our office from an MD or DO (IMPORTANT: The referral must be from an MD or DO.)  If you are non-active duty, the MD or DO referral can come from any provider office on or off base.  If you are active duty, you must have a referral from an MD or DO from an on base provider only.  

We understand Tricare has made this a little confusing and we regret Tricare has made it more difficult to get counseling services.  But without our office having the MD or DO referral,  Tricare will deny payment, making you responsible for 100% of the bill.  We would like to avoid that.

Some provider offices have told our clients that "no, the referral doesn't have to be from an MD or DO".  In order to help you better explain and clarify that we indeed do require the MD or DO referral, we have taken a screenshot from the Tricare manual (see below).

It looks like Tricare is attempting to better educate other providers of the requirement for an MD or DO to make the referral.  Tricare sent our office a fax explaining it better.  Feel free to share this fax / document with your provider if needed.  It's in a PDF file.  Dana is considered a "supervised mental health counselor" and the end of the letter addresses the need for a MD or DO referral.
