LATE TEEN GROUP - SUPPORT AFTER INPATIENT CARE

Currently Accepting New Clients

Recognizing that your teenage child requires inpatient mental health care is difficult for any family.  While attending an inpatient facility, teens often experience the support and comfort of group therapy and peers who have shared similar experiences. Transitioning out of inpatient care is sometimes surprisingly difficult.  The group support and the peer camaraderie is often missing from outpatient plans.  By providing group therapy and peer support, teens can learn to recognize that they do not have to fight this battle alone. This group helps teens learn how to:

  • Handle, cope and resolve a personal crisis
  • Build a healthy support system with friends and family
  • Identify triggers to their emotions
  • Improve their self-esteem and self-worth
  • Find health and balance in their journey toward adulthood

Through supportive therapy, teens can empower themselves to live the happy and healthy life they deserve!

Teen Boys and Girls Support and Processing Group

Group can be a very productive way to cope with life stressors.  Sure, adults can offer wisdom from their own experience, but kids may feel "you don't really understand".  Times change and our world is different than when we were kids.  Group therapy works because teens understand other teens and group gives them a deeper sense of being heard and understood.

You will find that we do not rush to start a group.  For example, we will not start a group simply based on age.  We have found that group works best only when the teens in that group are a good match in personality and level of social functioning.  When this happens, we find teens often look forward to group each week.

There are three groups being offered for teens:

  • Boys and Girls 7th - 8th Grade
  • Boys and Girls 9th - 10th Grade
  • Boys and Girls 11th - 12th Grade

If you are interested in one of these groups, the therapist running this group will complete a thorough assessment of your teen.  Based off the assessment, we will pair your teen with other group members who we feel would be a good fit.  The group will start once there are 4-5 members.

Support Group for Parents with Autistic Children

If you have an autistic child, you don't need to be told how challenging it can be. Parents work so hard to advocate and guide their child, that parents themselves can experience higher degrees of stress and depression.  What better way to process these day-to-day challenges than by talking with other parents who "get it."  A parent needs to take care of themselves in order to be the most effective parent for their child.

This group is run by Eric Unruh (LCSW) who understands autism well, as he is the "go to" expert in the area in helping children and their families with autism.  This group has not yet started.  If you are interested in joining, please contact us by clicking the link below or calling 907-622-1002.
